Snapshot of K & S’ Chinese and Hindu wedding fusion

And here marks the bitter-sweet finale of K & S’ epic wedding story. If you’ve been with Aperture Lane long enough, you won’t be surprised to hear that I LOVE fusion weddings. We provided photography and videography for our lovely couple.

While juggling the restrictions and dodging bad weather, K & S meticulously curated wedding celebrations that infused the main influences of their families: Chinese, Sri Lankan, Christian and Hindu.

With the ever-changing restrictions in Ontario, Canada, K & S gave up on any plans for a big wedding and decided to have small celebrations with their families over two days.

Day 1

On the first day, we focused on celebrations centered around the Chinese and Christian influences. The day started with a super intimate Chinese tea ceremony followed promptly by a civil ceremony. Day one is where they made things official. To close off the first day, K & S had a small vow ceremony. They shared their thoughtful and emotional personal vows in front of friends and family. You can hear some of these in the snapshot video above.

Day 2

A week later, we dived into the Hindu and Sri Lankan celebrations. We started bright and early with some getting-ready shots in the morning. These shots preceded the “big” tented Hindu ceremony. Because of the restrictions on gatherings, our couple chose to have the ceremony live-streamed. Because of the nightmare of 2020, my team and I learned how to incorporate livestreams into our workflow in order to provide these to our clients. By providing the livestream, we also help to minimize the number of teams that need to come into an event with tripods and gear.

After the ceremony, we went to some nearby green space and did a small creative couple shoot with K & S.

It was nice to see all these elements from both days tidily come together in their videos and photos. We really admire K & S’ determination to have a celebration despite the tough situation of early 2021 in Ontario. Little did we know that soon after their nuptials that Ontario would dramatically lift their restrictions and our year would change in a way we never could imagine.

See more shots from their day here.

More to come. As we narrate together.
