We have accommodations in place for weddings affected by COVID-19. Apply for availability and additional information

You are unique. Your spouse is one-of-a-kind. So is your combined story. In light of this, each film is handcrafted, and all its elements - visual content, musical score and sound sources - are chosen intentionally to represent you and your story. This allows you to make your story a true legacy.

We have a warm and personable approach that allows us to connect with those present, which helps them to be comfortable in front of the lens and ultimately forget about the cameras.

During the formal portions of the day, we quietly and inconspicuously document. During the creative portions, we enthusiastically collaborate with you and the photography team. If you are awkward on camera, don't worry; we've got you! These creative clips are the result of capturing organic emotional reactions from gentle prompting.

Our films are not music videos; our films are elegant and emotional pieces heavily driven by the natural story-telling of the day taken from the events of the day, your wedding vows and the speeches. In fact, we have a style that has been referred to as cinematic, sentimental and epic. Isn't it true that epic stories endure the test of time?

The Aperture Lane Experience

Life goes by fast. Our special events go by ever faster. Trust me - I know; I'm at them all the time.

If you want to have a chance at having the most faithful and detailed record of this milestone time in your life, videography is your best chance. Videography captures entire moments - not just fractions of a second at a time. The value of having these visual and audible keepsakes it incalculable.

If special moments are important to you...

It’s time to INVEST in (not just hire) a videography team that will:

1) walk with you throughout the planning process

2) help you plan your itinerary and make suggestions to maximize your experience on the wedding day

3) be a fun and approachable vendor during your day to help you feel at ease in front of the camera

4) blend in during the ceremony and reception to help maintain an authentic ambience for you and your guests.

5) deliver you a film that contains the unique storytelling of your relationship and not just a glorified music video

I’m concerned about booking with the uncertainty of the COVID-19 restrictions. What happens if I need to reschedule my wedding?

Your concerns are totally valid. For weddings in 2020 and 2021, there will be no penalties for rescheduling your wedding due to the unpredictable nature of the pandemic. Just like in a regular year, we do book with couples on a first-come-first-serve basis. With couples from 2020 pushing their weddings back to 2021, there may be a higher demand for vendors in 2021. Find out the conditions for rescheduling and secure your vendors. For more information, reach out on the contact page.

1/11

When should I book?

As soon as possible. We work with a limited number of couples each year - around 20 - in order to maximize their experience and the quality of work for all couples in that season. Bookings are locked in on a first-come-first-serve basis.

2/11

Do you offer photography?

Yes! You can now add photography to your arrangements or book it as a stand-alone service. If you'd like to learn more, visit the photography site:

3/11

We have a team of 2 or 3 persons on the cinematography team depending on the logistics and size of the wedding. Though there are multiple camera angles, there will be only one person walking around with a camera.

In most cases, you’ll see members from the core team (introduced on the About page) at your wedding. In some cases, we get help from members of our extended network to help fulfil the weddings. This can include assistants, drone specialists, same-day editors, etc. I’ll let you know ahead of time who will be on the team.

Who comes to shoot the wedding?

4/11

One of the focuses of our workflow at weddings is to be non-obtrusive. During the ceremony and reception, we shoot the action from as far away as possible being mindful of guest experience.

Past couples in their reviews have mentioned things like “They captured each and every key moment without us even knowing they were there” and “We loved how inconspicuous they were while filming, and the polished look of the final videos.”

I'm worried about my guests’ experience with all the cameras…

5/11

After finalizing your arrangement, you reserve us for your day with a signed agreement and deposit.

I won't be able to guarantee your date without those two items.

How do I secure the booking?

6/11

Don’t worry about it! You don’t have to be a runway model to look great on camera. During our creative session, we’ll work with you guys to prompt actions that suit your personalities. Motion is way more suitable for video so you won’t be filmed in any stiff poses.

During the formal parts of your event, we document quietly without intervention.

How do you work with camera-shy people?

7/11

We go in with a spirit of collaboration to ensure that all vendors we work alongside can do their jobs in the best way possible. This is especially important with photographers since we work so closely with them. We communicate our plans with each other to minimize clashing as much as possible.  It also helps that most of our team has a photography background!

How do you work with photographers?

8/11

Do we get to choose the music for our film?

Typically, no. After we’ve all experienced your day, we can choose music that fits the “vibe” of your event and that complements the footage we walk away with. Also, due to copyright laws, we can’t just slap on a song from your personal music library. However, suggestions are more than welcome as they are also taken into consideration.

9/11

Can we hire you for a destination event?

Absolutely! Aperture Lane has covered weddings in different provinces in Canada, The US, the Caribbean and even as far as Europe. If you'd like us to travel with you to your destination, let's discuss the details!

Arrangements for destination weddings and events start at $4000 CAD plus travel and accommodations for 2 team members for cinematography arrangements.

10/11

Do you use drones?

Yes. For an additional fee, you may request an aerial videographer to capture a few shots to be used in your film. Keep in mind that drone usage is subject to local laws, weather conditions, schedule, and safety as a priority.

Frequently Asked Questions

Reviews

You can take our word for it, but why not read what  our Aperture Lane couples have to say!

Finding someone who was passionate about their work was super important to us and Ryan and his team proved that. This is not his “side hustle”, but his life’s work and the outcome is reflective of this. He does more than just recap the day; he captures your story and weaves it altogether in a way that will have you crying and emotional all over again...
• Michelle D.

His enthusiasm, experience attention to detail is clear. After meeting with other videographers, we signed with Aperturelane and we are so grateful we did. His finished product was outstanding, and you can tell he works diligently to ensure every moment is captured (we saw him running up and down hills several times lugging equipment during our ceremony to capture the best angle, that is dedication!)…
• Daniel P.

Ryan and crew were absolutely amazing from start to finish. He did a great job of putting us at ease whenever he was filming, and honestly, it was just a lot of fun with all the chatting and joking around! The final feature was just wonderful, and I'm so happy and proud to share the video with friends and family, especially those who could not be there at the wedding…
• Marc D.

It was amazing to work with Ryan! He had my husband and I so relaxed the day of our wedding that we couldn't have been any happier. Just after seeing the highlight video I was so happy we decided to book with Aperture Lane. After receiving our final video, we were blown away!
• Perpetual B.

One of the things we really appreciated was Ryan's emphasis on making sure the speeches were captured and helped to drive the narrative of our story. He took care to make sure that we felt relaxed and at ease on our wedding day and really went above and beyond to accommodate any requests we had. We were so happy and blown away by the final product and we would highly recommend him.

Aperture Lane is the definition of first class! From the moment we met Ryan and he told us his vision and the stories he creates through video, we knew he was going to be the videographer at our wedding. Every step of the way Ryan was supportive, informative, and provided a sense of comfort and care that we knew we didn't have to worry about video. He made us feel that he cared about our wedding as much as we did and it definitely showed throughout our wedding.
• Brian S.

Thank you for giving us the ability to relive our pre-wedding experiences, and wedding in Jamaica for many years to come. There are many videographers in this world, and through the many wedding video's we have seen, none of their work compares to the creativity you have. It's amazing to see how you captured all of the right moments, and perfectly knitted them together.
• Tenn-Lai F.

Our video is amazing! Thank you so much for creating such a beautiful video that captures the magic of our wedding. It has been a pleasure getting to know you - you have been so great to work with, professional, organized, a sense for understanding exactly what your clients are looking for - and I don't even have to mention the quality of work and the beautifully crafted video.
• John M.

I am soooo happy to have chosen Ryan/ApertureLane as our videographer and highly recommend him. Ryan shines in his element and truly enjoys what he does. He is easy to work with, gives great advice and is always full of energy!!
• Azadeh B.

We loved how inconspicuous they were while filming, and the polished look of the final videos. They were very professional yet lighthearted, coached us on how to get the best takes, and worked very well with our photographer. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for a videographer that will highlight the meaning and emotion of their wedding or other event.

The Process

Working with me and the team is simple!

We set up a meeting to discuss your wedding along with the relevant details and needs to bring your vision to life. From this point, we'll have the opportunity to see if we're a good fit. You'll also get some options for your day to look over.

01.

Choose an arrangement that works for you and let's finalize your booking. Dates are locked in with a signed contract and deposit.
Note: We shoot a limited number of events per year

02.

If you opted for a pre-wedding shoot, we get to planning that and we get our first shooting session together. These usually get you comfortable with the process in preparation for the wedding day.

03.

In the months before the wedding, we encourage you to stay connected with Aperture Lane on social media. You'll also get some resources along the way to help you prepare for the media and schedule aspects of the wedding.

04.

About a month before the wedding, we have a follow-up meeting to go over the itinerary, iron out any creases and make sure our arrangement still works for your wedding day.

05.

The big day! No more planning! Now we're cruising and doing what we all set out to do: celebrate your milestone and make sure it is documented beautifully.

06.

You get to enjoy matrimonial bliss and we start molding the masterpiece. Relive your experience with your collection and all the respective videos in a gorgeous, personalized digital collection.
